Process - Dental Inlay - Onlay

A dental inlay usually requires two visits. During the first visit your tooth will be cleaned, the decayed parts will be removed, and the remains of the tooth will be shaped to better hold the inlay or onlay. An impression will be taken of your tooth to make an inlay that fits perfectly into the tooth. After about 2 weeks, the second stage of the process can begin. The wait is necessary for the technicians to fabricate your inlay, mold it to the proper shape and size. During the second visit, the inlay is inserted into the tooth, after the tooth is cleaned. A bonding agent may be required in order to hold the inlay in place. After this is done your tooth may be polished in order to give a nice, healthy shine.
