Bridge

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge replaces one or more neighbouring missing teeth. A traditional bridge consists of 2 abutment teeth that act as anchors, and as many pontic (false) teeth as needed to fill the gap. Cantilever dental bridges can be used to replace a single tooth. Both types of bridges are commonly fabricated from metal or zirconium fused porcelain.

Dental bridgeWhy a dental bridge?

While having just one missing tooth may not seem like a big deal, it can affect the way you chew or bite, or lead to the migration of surrounding teeth, and even loss of jawbone density. For those uncomfortable with the surgery required for a dental implant, a bridge might be a less invasive choice.

When replacing multiple neighbouring teeth, dental bridges provide the best, and often most economical, solution. Our dentists can restore your beautiful smile, with a look and feel very close to what you’re used to.

Is a dental bridge difficult to care for?

Proper dental hygiene must be maintained to ensure the continuing health of abutment teeth. Our dentists strongly recommend brushing twice and flossing once daily. With proper care, your dental bridge might not need replacement for 10 to 15 years.

Are dental bridges affordable?

The cost of a dental bridge varies greatly, depending on materials and the number of replacement teeth. Do not despair if you need many, the per-unit cost decreases as the number of pontic teeth grows.
