Zirconium fused crowns are made of a special alloy called zirconium oxide, and are much more realistic than anything else on the market today. They mimic real teeth to such a degree that they are virtually undetectable as false. They are made up of a zirconium base that is fused to a porcelain outer shell.
These types of crowns require zirconium abutments when placed on an implant. These crowns do not reflect light, but let them through somewhat, in the same manner as real teeth. Zirconium is also a good choice for those with metal allergies.
These crowns can be used to replace any tooth, but are usually used to replace front teeth because of their undetectable closeness to actual living teeth.
These crowns are very high end and have the same expected lifespan as our regular crowns, however they are subject to the same manufacturer’s guarantee as our standard metal based crowns. That is, if the crown fails in any way due to a manufacturing error becoming apparent, than we will refund the crown or give one of equal value, if the failure occurs within 1 years. These crowns are usually good for 15-20 years, but this of course depends on the amount of care taken. If the crown has been damaged from improper use, including any damage incurred form bruxism or from chewing on things other than food, or on food that is too hard, such as walnut shells, or as a result of fighting, playing sports or horsing around, alcoholism or smoking, than the warranty will not apply and you will have to get a new one.
