Hygienist

We all take care of our teeth with at home tooth cleaning methods, such as regularly brushing your teeth, using mouthwash, and of course generous use of dental floss. However, these methods are not enough in and of themselves to make sure your chompers do not get tooth decay. A check up and a hygiene session is recommended every six months by the NHS and private dentists as well, so we can stop tooth decay before it happens with a hygiene session.

Hygienist

Process

Hygiene sessions are a one visit treatment, usually, and they require from 45 minutes to two hours depending on the amount of plaque and tartar build up in the patients mouth. They typically take between 60 and 90 minutes. During the session, the doctor will scale your teeth and tooth roots, removing any plaque that is built up, and will treat your gums as well. After that a polish can be applied to make your teeth shine, but this is optional.
An oral hygienist as well as a dentist can perform this dental treatment, but it does have to be performed by a medical professional. We provide oral hygiene sessions seven days a week at our London dental practice, and if you feel you may need one, feel free to call our customer care staff, and we will book a hygiene session to one of our qualified dentists as soon as possible!
