An informative article about what a post and core tooth restoration method is, how it relates to a dental crown, and what kind of tooth replacement this dental procedure really is.
It’s National Smile Month again, and this means that dentists, dental practices and dental hygienists all over the country will be opening their doors to patients in order to increase the dental health of the country. This practice, which was developed 40 years ago, is held annually and has contributed greatly to the increased dental health of the British citizens. However, there is still a long way to go: some 20% of the British population of 65 and older have no teeth and almost one third of British children have been to an emergency dentist before they reach the age of 10. The overwhelming majority of adults will have undergone a root canal treatment before the age of 45, and a full 10% of British adults are ashamed of the condition of their teeth.
Candida albicans and its many varieties are always with us, in our bodies from before we are born. This otherwise harmless fungus lives in our digestive tract and on our skin, and even, in small quantities, in our mouths. This fungus is well regulated by the host’s immune system, and so this fungus, which is the cause of many nasty infections, is usually kept under control and aids us in our lives. But when the immune system weakens or fails to respond to an outbreak of candida albicans, things can get ugly. From the notoriously well-known yeast infections that over 75% of women have to deal with from time to time, to the oral thrush of infants, many skin diseases and other conditions are caused by candida.
